The final day of the season, and a tremendous turn out from parents and friends.
Thankfully a great performance from the boys with two land mark goals. Sam Cousins powering in a header from Robbie's corner was a delight and something we have been waiting for all season. However this was outshone when Lewis, after 3 years of asking, got his chance up front. A tremendous run from Samuel led to a square pass and Lewis finished the move off for his first ever goal. The celebration after, envolving everyone on the pitch, showed what a great team spirt we have here and it capped of the end to a fabulous season perfectly.
WELL DONE LADS!!!!!! |

A Thursday night match, our 5th in eleven days, and they caught up with us. The scoreline does not reflect the match as it was 1-1 with 15 minutes to play.We were delighted with the effort and commitment and the lads can be proud of their performances. On reflection we only had 11 players available and two were injured, and would not have played if others had been available, so all in all well done. |

This was a 2nd place decider and the lads responded with an amazing performance. This was our best display of the season and a real pleasure to watch. Ben's goals tally was excellent but it was a team effort to be proud of. Runners up spot was secured today - BRILLIANT!!!!! |

A great performance. Congratulation to Samuel who got his 50th goal for Mosborough. Two fabulous goals from him gave us the win, but this was a performance where the score didn't reflect our dominance. If Ben would have taken his chances it could have been any score. A great team effort and a good start to our double header for the runners up spot. |

Not a good day at the office. 3 mistakes gave Wath their goal which is most disappointing. In fairness we didn't create a great deal and the lads heads dropped after our mistakes. We can do better. |

Good result for the boys.
Played a very unsporting bunch, but kept our discipline well and ran out comfortable winners. Five goals from Ben was a tremendous effort and he looked a threat all day. Joe M played very well and a very pleasing result from the lads. |

A staggering performance for all the wrong reasons. With the clocks going back this was in essence an 8.30am kick off, and I think we were still in bed for this match. Throstles raced into a 2-0 lead within ten minutes and they never looked back. We managed to get one back in the first half through Adam Elliott half time 3-1.
A Rollicking at half time had no effect and with so many poor performances it was difficult to know what to do from the touch line. Throstles soon went 6-1 in front before we woke up, but despite creating several good chances in the last 15 minutes we only managed one goal through Matt Mayfield. We got what we deserved, absolutely nothing. This result will cost us any chance of the league, very disappointing!!!!!!!

Tremendous performance from the boys. Battled well to come from one down to be winning 2-1 by half time. We needed to take one of our early chances in the second half, but we didn't. Sadly an unbelievable piece of luck went against us, as the ball skipped of a divot in the penalty area and bounced over Lewis to make it 2-2. Further bad luck struck as from the re-take Jack Rutter was on the end of a late challenge that put and end to his game and subsequently his season. Lewis pulled of some good saves towards the end, but to be honest for the last ten minutes of the game all our thoughts were with Jack. Well done boys this was definitely a day when we didn't get what we deserved. |

A tremendous result boys. We started off like a house on fire with Ben scoring after 30 seconds with a good finish from the edge of the box. After the great start we took our foot of the pedal and Throstles got a foothold in the match. They created a couple of chances and Lewis was sharp to smother their efforts. Mosborough won a free kick 25 yards out and Sam Cousin produced another brilliant free kick. Mosborough began to create more and more chances and Sam Whittaker finished off a good move with a powerful finish. Halftime 0-3.
A good half and nice to get the lads in at half time on the back of a good performance. an early corner in the second half saw their keeper mis handle the ball and Niall pounced to nod in from close range. Throstles then scored a well taken goal to make the score 4-1. Thankfully we scored two goals quickly with Samuel W firing in two great strikes from the edge of the box. Mosborough were now dominating the play and Ben W fired in our 7th. Jack Rutter then converted a penalty and Ben then completed his hat rick from close range.
Very well done lads, this was a great performance, we looked strong and kept a good shape throughout the match. |

Brampton Dynamos -v- Afc Mosborough |
2-3 |
Matt Mayfield

Again a game of two halves. The opening exchanges were won by Brampton and they took a deserved lead half way through the first half. Soon after Lewis produced a fantastic double save which I feel was the turning point in the match. We picked up our tempo and with half drawing to a close we put together a great move which culminated in Matt slotting home a really good goal. Half time 1-1.
Stern words again mainly regarding the need to earn the right to play and not expecting teams to lay down and roll over. Again the lads responded well and Mosborough dominated the 2nd half but missed a few glorious chances, was it going to be one of these days!! Thankfully Ben drove down the left and powered a shot in to put us 2-1 up. We pushed forward with great gusto and Ben intercepted a goal kick and slotted home a clinical finish to put us 3-1 up. As the game drew to a close Brampton's long clearance was missed by our defence and Brampton scored their second. Final score 2-3.
All in all a good result and great character shown by the lads. Well Done. |

If ever there was a game of two halves this was it. After six week without a game it really did show. Brinsworth got the best start with an early goal. This was a set back and anxiety was high as we missed a host of good chances. Brinsworth created a couple more chances, then on the half hour Samuel drove down the left a slotted a good shot home. Thankfully within minutes Benjamin sprinted clear and rounded the keeper to put us 2-1 up at half time. Stern words again were needed( its becoming a trend) but I have to credit the lads as the second half was much much better. Ben broke down the right and centred the ball for Samuel to slide home for his second and our third. Samuel again was in the thick of the action as he sprinted away and smashed home his hat-rick. Mosborough's fifth was a good move with Sam C laying the ball of to Jack Rutter who's perfect pass was slotted home by Ben for our fifth. Late on in the game, Adam Elliott was brought down for a penalty which was coolly dispatched by Ryan Phelan to seal a good win. Well done boys but more hard work will be needed in the coming weeks. |

A great performance from the lads with many excellent performances. Too many goals to describe but special mention must go too both Adam and Niall for netting four each. A well done to Joe for scoring a good header and great to see us keep a clean sheet. I would also like to mention special praise for Ben whom did not get on the scoresheet but showed great team ethics to set up many of the goals. A great achievement lads keep it up. |

A good performance in patches. Mosborough went 2-0 with goals from Jack Chattaway (first ever!!) and Ben Whittaker. Again Mosborough switched off and conceeded a soft penalty and a freak second saw Brampton draw level. Fortunately we got a goal on the stroke of half time through Niall. Halftime 3-2.
I expected an onslaught in the second half but Mosborough stepped up their performance and scored a forth when Sam Cousins followed in a good shot that came back off the bar. To Bramptons credit they came back again and scored their third with a free header from a corner, which I am not happy with. Again though we came back well and Ben scored a brilliant goal with a solo run from 40 yards out.
Many good performances today, well done boys!!

A bad day at the office.
Mosborough were a match for our division E apponents and with more self belief could easily have won this game. We gave away two silly goals and were unlucky to have had a goal disallowed, hit the post missed an open net and a clear penalty turned down. On another day who knows what would have happened if one of our chances had gone in. |

Whiston Wildcat -v- AFC Mosborough |

A tough game. Mosborough got off to a good start and scored via a well taken volley from Jack House. We played some good stuff in the first half but some niave defending saw Mosborough conceed two goals against the run of play. Halftime 2-1.
Mosborough came out with more purpose in the second half and got a deserved equaliser through Sam Whittaker. Unfortunately we again were undone by some poor defending and Whiston's centre forward took his goal extremely well.
A disappointing result for the boys and one we must learn from. |

A good performance in general. The match was played in terrible conditions and it was a good to see the boys playing the game in the right manner. When the boys played the football on the deck they looked really good and with quick passing we created good chances. There were too many goals to describe in full but I was really pleased to see us score 3 goals from well outside the box and ben took his second goal with a very clinical finish. Many good performances but Samuel just shaded the MOM award, his composure on the ball is what more of the lads need to show. I hope this is the kick start to our season as I think we can play better but I will never complain with a seven goal haul. I would also like to applaud the back four and keeper for a good clean sheet. All in all well done lads. |

Lewis Cain/Samuel Whittaker |
Trophy Match - Whiston started well and dominated the early stages. We were outplayed for much of the first half with a distinct lack of energy and competative instinct. Whiston took a deserved lead and without Lewis being in superb form we could have well been out of the trophy competition by half time. Some choice words at half time were needed and received. We started the second half well but could not manage a break through. A strange turn of events changed the game. Ben picked up an injury and he was replaced with Sam W moving up front and Jack Rutter moving into midfield. This transformed our performance and Sam W began to dominate the Whiston back four and had several chances before he set up Robbie for a simple finish. Whiston still caused us some problems and Lewis made an exceptional save from Ty when his clearing header looked like it was looping into his own goal. With the game looking like extra time was coming, Sam W surged past the defence and struck a great left footed shot into the bottom corner to seal the win for AFC and cap a MOM performance. Whiston can count themselves unlucky and on another day would have won the game. Special mention must be given to the 20 minutes Jack Rutter was on the pitch as he made a huge difference.
We done boys it was a tough match but we need to improve in order to progress further in the cup but at least were in the draw. |

AFC had a bare eleven with one player carrying an Injury. We started poorerly and conceeded a soft goal midway through the first half. With immediate response Sam Cousins scored a magnificent free kick to level the score. It was against the run of play that Grenoside took the lead again, only for Niall to level things up again. Half Time 2-2.
AFC started the 2nd half strongly and took a deserved lead with Ben scoring a close range header. We began to dominate play and scored our fourth through Niall Dickinson.
Well done boys keep it up. |

Great start for the boys. Although it was a shaky first half after we missed a host of early chances. We could have been one up in the first 5 seconds after Ben hit the post. Thankfully Ben scored the most difficult of his chances to give us a one nil lead at the break. After choice words at half time the boy played much better and took a deserved 2-0 advantage. The visitors came back with a well taken header and it was nip and tuck for 10-15 minutes until we got our third and sealed our win.
Although it was a good win, we still have plenty to work on and cannot take anything for granted!! |

WOW - A baptism of fire. Mosborough went to last years Division A winners in the first round of the Cup. Its always difficult to lose but in truth we only managed to match the current champions in small patches, but I am proud that we are the first team to score against them in the last nine games. On a sad note Jack Rutter broke his arm and we all wish him a speedy recovery. WELL DONE boys. |
